Cory D. Cyr - Interview

WYLABWYW: Author Bio

I began writing music and poetry at an early age. My love of music became my sole focus, and I spent quite a few years as the lead singer for many local rock bands. In high school, I was fascinated with the macabre and started writing science fiction and horror stories so dark they earned me the nickname "Gory Cory."

After years of writing dark tales, I never thought in a million years my first two finished manuscripts would be Adult Romance.

I am a devout vegan, as well as an animal lover. I collect antique weapons and crosses (I still have that dark-side).

WYLABWYW: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Something we won’t find in you author bio on your website (do you work, hobbies, what do you like to do when not writing/working, etc.).

I write FULLTIME. I have two cats Lizzy and Buffy. I was a DVD whore (1400+) until I discovered Blu-ray now I am a junkie big time. I enjoy foreign horror movies as well as television shows in subtitles.  I love antique and gun shows.  To be honest since it’s only me and my kitties I spend most of my time writing or shopping with my BFF.

WYLABWYW: What inspired you to become a writer?

I began writing at an early age and it stuck. I never once finished ONE of my manuscripts. They had piled up in drawers.  I stuck to short stories, songs and magazine articles. When my mom got ill April of 2013 I needed an outlet for my emotions. So, I began penning a dystopian YA. As with the others, I got bored and didn’t feel my creative juices flowing. I spoke to a really well known author about my writer’s block. She gave me the best advice ever. Don’t write what you hope will sell WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW.  Well I know younger men/older women better than anyone. It’s been my lifestyle since high school. So Reviving Haven was born. I have to admit me writing romance was really outside of my comfort zone. I didn’t tell any of my friends right away. And the sex. Ye Gods.

WYLABWYW: Do you have a mentor or mentors?

I have authors that helped me if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be answering these questions.
Cambria Hebert (sounding board for all my woes and constant questions) Mary Ting(holding my hand pre-publishing-she is a GOD send)

Jodi Ellen Malpas: For giving me the BEST advice ever.

WYLABWYW:  What do you do to prepare for a story?

Storyboard
Outline
Muses

Snatch- which will be released April 2, 2016 is a book I had to hire a technical advisor for. There are a lot of weapons and action scenes so I needed someone with expertise in that area.

Acquiesce -required several excursions to Porn/Adult shops and oh yeah I had to watch a ton of PORN(not the good kind but the instructional kind-YAWN FEST)

WYLABWYW: What do you find to be your biggest obstacle in the writing process?

Social media

WYLABWYW:  Where do you write?

I have two home offices and five computers but I generally gravitate to my bedroom because of the 28 inch monitor.

WYLABWYW: Do you listen to music when you write? If so, what do you typically listen to?

I have to have UTTER & COMPLETE silence. Sometimes if I need help with a particular scene, I will use the playlist from that book.

WYLABWYW: How much of your book(s), if any, is taken from real life events?

You’d be surprised. There is quite a bit, I just tweaked the events.

WYLABWYW:   Who is/was your biggest support for your writing career?

People I have never met. My virtual friends. The only family I have is my brother and he lives out of state. Sometimes you have to become your own cheerleader!

WYLABWYW:  What lead to write your chosen genre?

I have NO idea. I’m a goth chick. Romance was too FOO FOO for me. I like blood & guts.

WYLABWYW:  Tell us about your book(s).

Bite & Release:
A love story that begins when (he’s) 8 years old and (she’s) 21. Fast forward 13 years later when he’s 21.

I had no idea when I wrote this book women would embrace it like they have. I wanted to write a HOT as hell story, but make the ALPHA MALE a nice guy.

Reviving Haven:
An older disillusioned woman with no self-esteem and self worth meets a much younger, filthy-mouthed SCOT, who is an award winning video game designer and has major issues himself.

Acquiesce
Two words: MALE BROTHEL

WYLABWYW:  Do you have muses you used for your characters?

Of course.  (WYLABWYW: The covers say it all!)

WYLABWYW: Time to give your support a shout out! Tell us about your crew (cover designer, photographer, editor, videographer, proofreader, swag designer, etc.)

Robin/Wicked by Design: Best graphic Designer EVER. She takes my vision and creates covers to die for.
I always choose the cover photo myself. Since I don’t use stock, each picture is a different photographer.
Danielle’s Dazzling designs creates all of my swag. We mesh no matter what I want (and sometimes it’s REALLY OUT THERE); she comes through.

All my book trailers were created by  Bibliophile Productions. Becca is amazing!

WYLABWYW: What are you working on now, and when can we expect your next release?

I am currently doing FINAL edits on THE REASON I BREATHE (Bite & Release 2). It will be published July 24.

I just finished revisions on RUG BURNS (Weezie’s POV-from Reviving Haven). It will go LIVE October 17.

In between, I am working on Snatch due out April 2, 2016.

WYLABWYW: Can you share an excerpt from a work in progress?

I can give you the first line from Rug Burns: I LOVE COCK

WYLABWYW:  Do you have any upcoming signing events or appearances scheduled later this year or in 2016?

I don’t do signings.

WYLABWYW: Which new authors have caught your attention?

I really like Emily Cyr (no relation) and Sophie Slade(what can I say I’m enamored by Vampires)

Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us all.

Title: The Reason I Breathe
Series: Bite & Release #2
Author: Cory Cyr
Genre: Adult Romance
Release Date: July 24, 2015
**Strong Language**Explicit Sex**Intense Situations**
*This is Shea's POV. It is highly recommended you read Bite & Release first*

I waited my entire life for one singular moment.
Everything I had endured—all the pain and suffering—I would go through it all again,
if I knew she was waiting for me.

Ryan Chase was the only woman I ever loved.
My obsession. My desire.

When she came home . . . loving her hadn't been easy.
The road to our particular happiness was paved with boulders.
I became who she needed me to be. Who she wanted.
Marriage and children— they were a dream we both shared.
Until a nightmare threatened to take it all away.

Is love supposed to be this hard?
How long before the person I'm pretending to be begins to crack?
I'm a liar. A fraud.
He is surfacing.

She's the only reason I survived. I lived.
She is the reason I breathe.
Now, when she needs me the most—I'm transforming into the person
I thought I'd buried years before.

I can't be without her. She gives me purpose and makes me whole.
Nevertheless, the universe chose a different route. God had a different plan.
And right now, I'm pissed at them both.

Excerpt

“More,” she begs as I bring the cane down on her already red ass.

I drop the long thin piece of bamboo, it makes a sound as it hits the concrete of my playroom. “I didn’t give you permission to speak, Petal,” I say to Penny. My voice is low, angry though controlled.

“Please, Sir. Harder,” she begs.

Her body is filled with marks. Her alabaster skin is no longer white. It’s a perfect hue of flaming crimson. Welts have developed from every one of the toys I’ve used on her. I’ve spanked her, flogged her, paddled her and caned her. And with everything I’ve done she wants more.

I’ve noticed since Matthew and Ella’s wedding, Penny’s upped the ante with her pain tolerance. She’s begging for more, desperate to have pain in her life at every opportunity.

She’s tried to top me many times, just like she is now.

“Did I give you permission to talk?” I ask again.

I stand behind her, her legs open, her pussy on show to me along with her glorious ass. Her blonde hair is falling out of the ponytail she had it in, and the strands are a stark contrast against the rich brown of the leather from the spanking bench. She’s up on her knees, her wrists are secured to the front legs of the bench.

“So-sorry, Master,” she stutters.

I fucking hate it. She’s called me Master a few times and I know she wants that from me, but I don’t want a slave. I want a submissive.

Standing back, my eyes travel the length of her body. From her upper back all the way to her ankles- she’s marked. The heavier lashings are around her upper thighs and butt. Her mid-section only has slight color, because hitting with a heavy hand around the kidneys is not pleasurable. It’s flat out pain.

Penny’s been wanting more pain and I’m not ready to take her there. Nor should she want to travel into such dangerous territory.

WYLABWYW: Author Bio

I am 36 years old and live in Jacksonville, FL.  I am married with 2 children (ages 4 and 2).  I work in Bankruptcy Law during the day and write at night.  I am also a beta reader, reviewer, and an editor.  My family is from Portugal.  I have three college degrees:  an Associate of Science in Legal Assisting, a Bachelor’s of Science in Information Technology, and a Juris Doctorate Degree in Law.

WYLABWYW: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Something we won’t find in you author bio on your website (do you work, hobbies, what do you like to do when not writing/working, etc.).

I am an avid reader.  I love to cook and bake.  I am a huge chocolate chip cookie lover.  I don’t drink or smoke.  I also don’t curse but think it’s funny when everyone else does.

WYLABWYW:  Are you self-published, with an agency, or a combination of the two?

I am self-published.

WYLABWYW: What inspired you to become a writer?

Writing has always been an outlet for me.  Growing up wasn’t easy so writing helped me cope.  I never published anything until Unexpected Surprises.

WYLABWYW: Do you have a mentor or mentors?

My mentor is Kelly Elliott.  My first experience with her writing was an Audiobook.  I loved it and picked up her next book.  When I started to read it, I realized her writing style is much like mine.  I have read every single book and own every single audiobook she has out.

WYLABWYW:  What do you do to prepare for a story?

I outline the story in my mind to make sure that it’s a story that I want to tell.  Once the outline is completed, I work on character names.

WYLABWYW: What do you find to be your biggest obstacle in the writing process?

The original outline is my biggest obstacle.  Making sure that the story makes sense and that all the holes are covered.

WYLABWYW:  Where do you write?

On the couch, in front of the TV.  The TV helps me focus.

WYLABWYW: Do you listen to music when you write? If so, what do you typically listen to?

No.

WYLABWYW: How much of your book(s), if any, is taken from real life events?

A little of my books comes from life experiences.  Shattered especially has quite a bit of me.

WYLABWYW:   Who is/was your biggest support for your writing career?

My family has given me so much support.  I am very blessed.

WYLABWYW:  What lead to write your chosen genre?

I am a hopeless romantic and have always written love stories.

WYLABWYW:  Tell us about your book(s).

Rey is serving in the United States military.  He is living in Germany but only has a few more months before he contract is up.  He goes on leave for his cousin’s wedding which is taking place in Portugal.  He rents his uncle’s apartment for a few weeks.  When he gets there, he realizes someone is staying in there.  When he realizes it is Kat, his world is turned upside down.

Kat and Rey have a history.  Although nothing ever happened between them, there were some feelings and emotions that were never expressed to no one.  Rey vows to help Kat get out of the depression by getting her to go sightseeing and possibly open up.  Will Kat allow Rey to help her? Can Kat get past the death of her family and allow someone into her heart?  Will Rey’s military career put a stop to a relationship before it starts?

Shattered:

Haylee was raped in high school. When she identified the rapist to the authorities, it was dismissed for no evidence. She had to live in fear until she graduated high school. Her parents have not been able to deal with what happened to her and have shut her out of their lives.  She goes to college and meets Stacey. Stacey and her family become her family.  She meets Zander, Stacey’s older brother, and immediately falls for him.  She has never dated and he only experience she's had with a man was her rape.  Zander feels the same for Haylee but she keeps pushing him away. One thing leads to another and Haylee decides she will not let the rape control her life anymore. Will Haylee allow herself to love Zander freely? Will Zander take those demons out of her head and show her what love is?

WYLABWYW: Time to give your support a shout out! Tell us about your crew (cover designer, photographer, editor, videographer, proofreader, swag designer, etc.)

My cousin, Sonia and her boyfriend, posed for the cover of Shattered.  My cousin, Catherine Fournier Apolinario, was in Portugal at the time that I was working on the cover for Unexpected Surprises.  So, I asked her to take that picture and there is my cover.  I take the pics and create my covers.

Vanessa Archbold has been my editor.  She is one my oldest friends and amazing at editing my manuscripts.

WYLABWYW: What are you working on now, and when can we expect your next release?

I am working on my first series.  Book 1 of the Coming Homes Series will release sometime this summer.

WYLABWYW: Can you share an excerpt from a work in progress?

Tucker

I am sitting at the local bar contemplating on what I have done with my life.  I am almost twenty eight years old and I feel like I haven’t done anything worthwhile.  I always hated school.  I made sure to get a high school diploma but college wasn’t in the cards for me.  I went to a technical school and became a roofer a year later.  I have been working at Southern Roofing for eight years now.  I have made good money but I feel like my life is empty.  My brother, Jake, and I don’t get along and it got worse after my parents passed away and he went off to college.  My best friend, Shane, left home and went to Louisiana State University.  He comes home to visit but it isn’t the same.  Our little circle of friends seemed to have disappeared when everyone went to college and I stayed behind in the town we all grew up in.  We all went our separate ways except for Jake and Belle.  They both attended New York University and were both studying radiology.  Don’t get me wrong.  I am proud of all my friends and I want to see them succeed.  Unfortunately, I can’t help but feel left behind.  I don’t have a girlfriend and I have always dreamed of having a family of my own.  The one girl I have always wanted is way out of my league and my best friend’s sister.  Shane would kill me if I went after Kayla, I think.  Honestly, I’m pretty sure Kayla would laugh in my face if I ever asked her out.  Kayla is absolutely gorgeous.  She has long light brown hair and the most amazing green eyes.  She has an hourglass figure that will drop a man to his knees.  Besides her killer looks, the enormous brain on that woman is so hot.  I would give anything to have more than a friendship with her but I am afraid of rejection and that our friendship will go to hell.  I am also pretty sure she has never looked at me that way anyway.

WYLABWYW:  Do you have any upcoming signing events or appearances scheduled later this year or in 2016?

I will be attending and signing at the Angels and Sirens Author Event.  It will be in March of 2016 in Pittsburgh.

WYLABWYW: Which new authors have caught your attention?

Stephanie Reynolds, Jenna Fox, Amanda Sloan, Desiree Cox, Jordan Marie, Lisa S. Robinson, Alexa Keith, Harper Miller.

J. Asmara - Interview

Featured Author of the Week - J. Asmara

Author Name: J. Asmara

Fiction or Non-Fiction: Fiction

Genre(s): Erotica, Suspense, and Street Lit.

Number of books published: 3

Link to published work (Amazon, Smashwords, etc):  www.amazon.com/author/jasmara

WYLABWYW: Author Bio

J. Asmara is a simple woman who enjoys writing, fashion, traveling, and living life to the fullest.

J. Asmara brings her sexy uniqueness to her readers through intriguing characters and twisted plots.

Hailing from Beaufort, South Carolina, being a published writer was a dream that had been a long time coming for this mother of three, veteran, and entrepreneur.

As with most people, life hadn't always been fair to J. Asmara, however she endured and overcame adversity.

J. Asmara relocated to Laurel, Mississippi and her dream became a reality.

J. Asmara published the first book of the Rayne series, “When It Raynes” an erotic work that is getting outstanding reviews.

J. Asmara did not stop there and since have published additional books and a short story.

WYLABWYW: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Something we won’t find in you author bio on your website (do you work, hobbies, what do you like to do when not writing/working, etc.).

Though I’m very serious about my work and reaching my goals I’m sort of a goof ball. I love to have a good time and am always up for a good laugh. My household is full of comedians so there is never a dull moment. I’m also a gamer. I don’t play as much now that my schedule is filled with writing, but I still squeeze one or two in.

WYLABWYW:  Are you self-published, with an agency, or a combination of the two?

A combination of the two. I’ve self-published two books and one short story. I recently signed with Marvelous Leaders Publications and have a new book, Virtually Challenged “An Escort’s Story” coming in mid-June. After my fulfillment to the company more than likely I will go back to self-publishing.

WYLABWYW: What inspired you to become a writer?

Actually, I never had the desire to be an author. I’ve always done well in school with stories and essays but that was far as it went. I was pregnant with my six year old when my best friend told me I should write a book because my life had become eventful. I told her no blew it off. Periodically she’d throw hints about it and I’d blown those off as well. It was February 2015 when I wrote a short story for my boyfriend at the time. He loved it and wanted more. I sat to write the continuation of the story and then the light bulb turned on. I finally saw what my friend had seen in my potential. I took the leap of faith and now can’t see myself doing anything else.

WYLABWYW: Do you have a mentor or mentors?

I do not exactly have a mentor but I turn to God, my parents, and my really close friends for guidance.

WYLABWYW:  What do you do to prepare for a story?

I’m a visual person so first I visual the scene that I want to write. Once I get a picture in my mind then I figure how to write it.

WYLABWYW: What do you find to be your biggest obstacle in the writing process?

Getting out of my own way is my biggest obstacle. I am very critical of my work. I take second guessing to the next level. I never want to put out anything that is not great.

WYLABWYW:  Where do you write?

Anywhere! I keep my notebook in my purse. If I’m waiting anywhere longer than five minutes I’m writing. When I’m home my favorite writing spot is an oversized chair with my feet propped up on an ottoman.

WYLABWYW: Do you listen to music when you write? If so, what do you typically listen to?

Yes, I love music. Pandora is my best friend when I’m writing. My station selection is either Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, India Arie, or Floetry.

WYLABWYW: How much of your book(s), if any, is taken from real life events?

(laughing) More than I’d ever admit to my parents. It needs to be real to be realistic.

WYLABWYW:   Who is/was your biggest support for your writing career?

I’ve been blessed to get support from my family and friends. My parents sold many books for me as well as provided mental support. My friends have been rock stars during my writing process as well. They are my betas and editors. They keep me on track with their constructive criticism.

WYLABWYW:  What lead to write your chosen genre?

I’ve decided to stick with fiction so that I can write anything. My first two books and short story are erotic in nature (with some suspense, drama, and murder), my recently completed piece is more street lit, and I have paranormal story in mind to follow.

WYLABWYW:  Tell us about your book(s).

When It Raynes- A story about Rayne Smith. Rayne has it all handsome husband, beautiful children, nice house, and great career. Though her life is good she has a hidden past. Her mother unexpectedly dies and she returns to her home town and skeletons creep from her closet. She attempts to deal with them without disrupting her happy home.

When It Raynes: Clear Skies- It’s a year later and Rayne thought she escaped karma’s grip, but she was wrong. Karma is back with a vengeance. The story tells how Rayne did or did not beat her past.

Brazilian Heat- Brazilian Heat is the first story of my Fly High series, which is a flight attendant series. Marcus McBride is one of the few straight flight attendants at Air International. He travels the world leaving his mark. His latest trip was to Sao Paulo, Brazil. He meets Latina model Consuela Fiore who shows him the best of Brazil.

WYLABWYW:  Do you have muses you used for your characters?

Not really. I do visual my characters and their characteristics but no muse.

WYLABWYW: Time to give your support a shout out! Tell us about your crew (cover designer, photographer, editor, videographer, proofreader, swag designer, etc.)

When It Raynes/Cover design-Candice Kilgore/Editor-Adrina Smith/Proof Readers- Chenika Gadson, Karene Hill, and Robinne Adams

When It Raynes:Clear Skies/Cover Design-J. Asmara/Editor-J.Asmara/Proof Readers-Angela Henderson, Chenika Gadson, and Robinne Adams

Brazilian Heat/Cover Design-J.Asmara/Editor-J.Asmara/Proof Readers-Angela Henderson, Chenika Gadson, and John Henderson

WYLABWYW: What are you working on now, and when can we expect your next release?

I’m currently working on two pieces, Virtually Challenged “An Escort’s Story 2” and When It Raynes: Silver Linings. I plan on releasing Virtually Challenged by the end of July 2015 and When It Raynes by the end of August 2015.

WYLABWYW: Can you share an excerpt from a work in progress?

Virtually Challenged “An Escort’s Story 2”

Being an escort was never on Taylor Virtue Jones’ list of future endeavors, but life always has a way of turning the tables. Finding the third (and last if she had her way) man that she’d ever fallen in love with in bed with another man was the final straw. Taylor had heard about the rise of men on the down low but she never suspected Donte to be one of those men.

Taylor spent a few hours in jail for her expression of her emotions before her childhood friend Sade bailed her out. Those few hours weren’t ideal but it was warranted after the destruction she caused.

Taylor busted Donte’s apartment as well as his ribs with a bat during her tangent. As far as Taylor was concerned Donte was lucky she grabbed the bat out of the trunk and not the nine millimeter that was in the glove box. It cost her a little money and a year of probation, but she didn’t care. Catching Donte’s bitch ass with that dude changed her life. That was how she got into the business. So in her mind it was worth it.

Taylor and Sade met with the “Misses” of the Exquisite Evenings escort service Sylvia, two days after the Donte incident. “Nice to finally meet you,” Sylvia said. It was evident to Taylor that Sade had spoken of her often. Taylor glared at Sade who smiled and shrugged her shoulders.

“Nice to meet you as well,” Taylor said as Sylvia showed her around her home.

You’d never think that the mansion that sat in the well to do subdivision in Georgia was the nucleus of a well devised operation. Sylvia impressed Taylor and right then and there she made up her mind to learn the business inside and out.

When It Raynes: Silver Linings

Karma has a way of knocking you on your ass, Rayne thought as she sat in her chair and watched her children as they ran about. Her mother in law entered the room. “You want anything Suge?”

“No. ma’am. I’m ok.”

“Holla at me if you need anything. I’ll be in the sitting area reading.”

“Thanks Beverly. I appreciate you being here.”

“No problem. That’s what family’s for,” she smiled at Rayne as she exited the room.

Rayne’s gratitude went further than one could imagine. Beverly took care of the children and David while Rayne laid in a hospital bed for almost four months. Tears fell from her eyes as she thought of the mess that her secrets and lies caused.

Those damn skeletons, she thought as she wiped her tears.

WYLABWYW:  Do you have any upcoming signing events or appearances scheduled later this year or in 2016?

I have one book signing on my calendar as of now. It will be in Beaufort, South Carolina during the annual Water Festival. Myself and two of my friends and literary sisters Shanette Booker and Sheronda Goodwine will be at Salt art gallery (802 Bay Street, Beaufort SC) on July 18th at 10:00 am until 6:00 pm.

WYLABWYW: Which new authors have caught your attention?

There have been a few new authors that have caught my attention. The first author is none other than you, Mrs. Desiree A. Cox, your writing is awesome. Then there are Shanette Booker, Sheronda Goodwine, JL Massey, Adrina Smith, Flenardo Taylor, and Empress Simone.
