WYLABWYW: Author Bio
Harper Miller is a thirty-something native New Yorker. She's traveled the world and lived in a variety of places but always finds her way back to the Big Apple.

A lackluster love life leaves time to explore new interests - for Harper, it’s writing. The Sweetest Taboo: An Unconventional Romance is her debut novel. In her mind, the perfect Alpha male possesses intellect, humor, and a kinky streak that rivals the size of California.

When she isn't writing, Harper utilizes her graduate degree in the field of medical research. She enjoys fitness-related activities, drinking copious amounts of wine, and going on bad dates.

WYLABWYW: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Something we won’t find in you author bio on your website (do you work, hobbies, what do you like to do when not writing/working, etc.).
I watch a lot of Netflix. Just got halfway through Daredevil. Man, that show is awesome!

WYLABWYW:  Are you self-published, with an agency, or a combination of the two?
Totally self-published!

WYLABWYW: What inspired you to become a writer?
Boredom, sucky dating life, reading stories with Alpha men who were complete douchebags instead of loving and kind. A guy can be an Alpha male but still be a decent human being. I was inspired to write a Dom, who pursued the woman he wanted without being a creep.

WYLABWYW: Do you have a mentor or mentors?
Nah.

WYLABWYW:  What do you do to prepare for a story?
Nothing really. Just plop myself down on my couch and start typing.

WYLABWYW: What do you find to be your biggest obstacle in the writing process?
Motivation some days, not enough time to get writing in on other days.

WYLABWYW:  Where do you write?
My kitchen or my living room on my couch. Occasionally, the library.

WYLABWYW: Do you listen to music when you write?
If so, what do you typically listen to? Sometimes, depends on what kind of emotion I’m trying to evoke. I can go from Nina Simone to Jay-Z to Nine Inch Nails. Never a dull moment, but I listen to all kind of music. I usually create a Spotify playlist for the story I’m writing.

WYLABWYW: How much of your book(s), if any, is taken from real life events?
Haha. Trick question. ;-)

WYLABWYW:   Who is/was your biggest support for your writing career?
Aside from my family, my team. My cover artist, my designer, my editors, my beta readers, and my blogger/author friends. They never hesitate to send words of encouragement my way. LOL, they’re also brutally honest, which I appreciate.

WYLABWYW:  What lead to writing your chosen genre?
I like kink. I also think it’s possible to intertwine romance and kink. You don’t see it too often in the romance genre. In erotica, it’s usually sex without any real connection between the characters.

WYLABWYW:  Tell us about your book(s).
Well, as I stated earlier, I wanted to write about a Dom, who was loving and kind but semi-aggressive in his pursuit of a woman he believed to be his soulmate. The Sweetest Taboo was born. After that, I began working on another story but I thought, “Gee, wouldn’t it be a great idea to write stories about kinky people on a website and their experiences?” From that idea, Ironic was born followed by Renewed. A kinky series.

Sweetest Taboo

New York City, Late Summer 2009

Like many single women who reside in the city that never sleeps, Micah Foster has had numerous encounters with undesirable men that make her want to renounce love. Just when she’s on the verge of calling it quits in her quest to find love and a sustainable relationship with a Dominant man, her friend Kisa requests her company for a girl’s night out at Spanxxx, a local fetish club. Both Kisa and Micah are seasoned submissive players in the BDSM lifestyle. Micah has been involved in the scene since her early twenties, but she has yet to meet a Dominant she meshes with and takes seriously. Now, at age thirty, she continues to search for a connection that repeatedly eludes her. Under duress, she crosses paths with Dominant Rick Thomas. Unusual and dire circumstances bring the pair together, and he’s exactly what Micah has been searching for.

The Sweetest Taboo is aptly titled. It’s an unconventional erotic love story that provides a different perspective of a relationship involving D/s and BDSM. The reader will follow Micah and Rick’s journey from beginning to end. You’ll laugh, you’ll be turned on, and most of all, you’ll find yourself cheering for their love.

*Disclaimer* If rough sex, an interracial pairing (Black woman/White man), D/s, and BDSM are of no interest to you, you should bypass this story. Intended for a mature and kinky audience. Recommended for adults 18+.

Ironic

I’ve got a funny story for you. A funny story I need to get off my chest. I can’t share it with any of my friends, so I’m sharing it on a kinky message board full of strangers. Well, it is the Internet. . . .

Although the Internet provides a sense of anonymity, names have been changed to protect the innocent (and not so innocent). Job-related details have been distorted to protect my identity, but despite the ambiguous details, this is a true story. A story very worthy of the acronym FML.

*Disclaimer* This is a short erotic comedy. Not a novelette, novella, or novel, but a short story. Content is intended for a mature audience, 18+.

Ironic is the first installment in The Kinky Connect Chronicles. The Kinky Connect Chronicles are short erotic stories all wrapped up in a neat little bow. No cliffhangers in the lot!

Renewed

I was hurt. I was heartbroken. I felt abandoned and emotionally drained.

Sometimes heartache can open new doors.

Of course, names have been changed to protect all parties involved, but this is my story.

*Disclaimer* This is a novelette. Not a short story, novella, or novel. Content is intended for a mature audience, 18+.

Renewed is the second installment in The Kinky Connect Chronicles. The Kinky Connect Chronicles are short erotic stories/novelettes all wrapped up in neat little bows. These stories are standalones. No cliffhangers in the lot!

WYLABWYW:  Do you have muses you used for your characters?
Oh yeah. I have a visual in my head, and I try to find the closest thing on planet earth to those characters, LOL. Usually takes some time but nothing a Google search and Pinterest can’t fix.

WYLABWYW: Time to give your support a shout out! Tell us about your crew (cover designer, photographer, editor, videographer, proofreader, swag designer, etc.)
Shout out to Taria A. Reed Cover Artist extraordinaire. She does so much more than my covers. The woman is phenomenal. She also runs a diverse stock site called The Reed Files. My designer Crystal Rae does my banners and profile pic. She’s going to be tasked with coming up with a Harper Miller logo soon. Daphne W. is my awesome editor, whom I also refer to as Thor. Alison Velea is my copy editor. Laurel Cremant formats all of my books. She’s a fellow indie author, but her business is called Winged Styles. And, of course, my beta readers who are always there for me: Patrice, Tamara, Connie, and Monica. Thank you, ladies!

Special shout out to LV Lewis, Allyn Lesley, and Olivia Linden for always staying true and listening to me whine! Love you, ladies!

WYLABWYW: What are you working on now, and when can we expect your next release?
Renewed, which is book two in the Kinky Connect Chronicles, will be released on June 22nd. So excited about that! It’s an erotic romance that starts off a bit rough but ends on a happy note.

WYLABWYW: Can you share an excerpt from a work in progress?
Sadly, as I type this, it’s still with my editing team so unfortunately, I can’t share anything. I cannot share unedited work, LOL I feel so NAKED.

WYLABWYW:  Do you have any upcoming signing events or appearances scheduled later this year or in 2016?
Yes, ma’am! I’ll hopefully be meeting you and many other cool authors at Indies in NY 2016.

WYLABWYW: Which new authors have caught your attention?
New to me authors this year that I’ve been digging: Vi Keeland, Joseph Lance Tonlet, Jason Dunatos, Amy Harmon, Damon Suede, Avril Ashton. I’m sure this list would be longer if I wrote less LOL. Before partaking on this author journey, I read at least 10-12 books a month.

WYLABWYW: Thank you, Harper, so much for taking the time to share with us all.
